Some political clothing announces a position. This piece constructs an argument.

Structural Matrix — Hands & Scales combines the visual force of twentieth-century public-information graphics with a precise contemporary message: tax extreme accumulated wealth rather than placing an ever-greater burden on ordinary work.

The open hands, weighted scales and architectural typography transform an economic proposition into a graphic conversation piece. Bold enough to be recognised immediately, but composed with enough restraint to remain wearable beyond a campaign or news cycle.

Designed for people who want the clothing first to look considered—and then to make someone ask what it means.

DESIGN STORY

Built around balance.

The artwork centres on a set of scales suspended above two open hands.

On one side sits the built economy: homes, workplaces and the material infrastructure of ordinary life. On the other sits accumulated capital, represented through stacked currency.

The composition asks where the tax burden should fall and who the tax system should protect.

The surrounding geometry draws from constructivist posters, trade-union graphics, Bauhaus composition and institutional public-information design.

Strong diagonals create movement while the restrained crimson, black and oat palette gives the piece visual authority without becoming conventional campaign merchandise.

ECONOMIC CONTEXT

The design refers to a wealth-tax proposal applying above £10 million in net assets.

Its central distinction is between income received through productive work and very large stocks of accumulated private wealth.

The 0.04% / 99.96% framework expresses the proposal's intended concentration: approximately 0.04% affected and 99.96% outside the threshold.

WHY PEOPLE WEAR IT

• Support the idea of taxing extreme accumulated wealth rather than ordinary work.

• Wear political design without party branding.

• Start conversations about taxation and inequality.

• Combine graphic-design appreciation with economic commentary.

• Wear something designed to remain relevant beyond a single political moment.

ABOUT TAXWEALTHNOT.WORK

taxwealthnot.work creates premium apparel around one economic proposition:

Ordinary work should not bear a heavier tax burden than extreme accumulated wealth.

Each garment combines graphic design, researched economic context and responsibly produced materials. The aim is not confrontation but thoughtful conversation.
