About this design
Every economy is built long before wealth is accumulated.
The Industrial Wrench places one of industry’s simplest tools at the centre of a carefully composed constructivist graphic. Rather than celebrating ownership, it celebrates the people who manufacture, repair, maintain and build the infrastructure on which modern society depends.
The composition treats manual work with the same visual seriousness normally reserved for finance, architecture or luxury branding. The result is a garment that functions first as contemporary graphic design and only afterwards reveals its economic argument.
Designed for people who believe productive work deserves recognition equal to accumulated wealth.
Design Story
The wrench has long represented skilled labour, engineering and collective production.
This design enlarges that familiar industrial object into a geometric focal point surrounded by architectural typography, directional forms and structural framing inspired by constructivist posters, Bauhaus composition and twentieth-century public-information graphics.
Rather than depicting conflict, the artwork highlights production itself. Every road, bridge, railway, hospital, workshop and home ultimately exists because people built and maintain them.
The central statement remains deliberately concise:
TAX WEALTH
NOT WORK
Supporting typography introduces the campaign’s canonical numerical framework while preserving the clean visual hierarchy.
Economic Context
The design illustrates the distinction between wealth generated through productive activity and wealth accumulated over long periods through ownership of assets.
Its policy reference is a proposed annual wealth tax applying only above £10 million in net assets. Within the brand’s canonical framework this threshold is represented alongside the 99.96% / 0.04% relationship, indicating the intended concentration of the proposal rather than claiming universal agreement across all wealth-tax models.
The Industrial Wrench symbol reinforces the idea that productive work underpins economic prosperity and therefore should not bear a disproportionate share of taxation.
Why People Wear It
• To recognise the value of productive work.
• To express support for taxation focused on extreme accumulated wealth.
• To wear political design without party branding.
• To encourage thoughtful discussion about work, taxation and economic structure.
• To combine appreciation for graphic design with economic commentary.
About taxwealthnot.work
taxwealthnot.work creates premium apparel around one economic proposition: ordinary work should not bear a heavier tax burden than extreme accumulated wealth.
Each garment combines researched economic ideas with contemporary graphic design and responsibly produced materials. The objective is not confrontation, but better public conversations about economics.
